I. Founder's Fund

-received about $700 so fa

II. Elections

-Everyone remains at their posts for the coming year

III. Chinese & Taiwan community

-Peggy and Ellen might meet with them again and will keep us updated

-China Star is interested in learning more about ethics and how to compete with their competitor that exchanges ads for positive articles.

IV. NAAAP-banquet

-unanimously voted NOT to co-sponsor but to attend and help where possible

V. Asheville/Charlotte

-four of us might be able to make the trip to Asheville and Charlotte

-the goal is to get them energized and give them small projects

-Tentative date is Nov 17th-19th

VI. Brainstorming on social events

-Meiling has a list of possible socials

-Definite socials include

-Indian light festival next week- meet saturday at the Booth amphitheater at 12:30 for lunch

-A board meeting hike on November 12th. We will also do portraits then.

-Sue cannot make it to next board meeting, if one other person cannot make it- we will move it.

-Next general body meeting should be at Sitar on November 3rd weekend.

VII. UNITY Holiday Party

-Unanimously voted to forego having a separate AAJA party and simply join up with the UNITY party

VIII. Student recruiting

-Pailin will get dates and contacts for the UNC campus- looking at January

-Ellen- will get dates and contacts for NC state and Duke

-Renee- will get contacts from UNC-TV

Misc items.

- Peggy is to email the Media Access Workshop participants and ask what they want to see for future MAW

-decided future MAW should be in April.

-Ellen has a list of possible speakers for next professional workshops- might piggy back with UNITY on this.

- Ellen and Pailin are meeting Saturday around 10 to hand over website possibilities

- Pailin will compile a birthday list

-Ellen will give Pailin access to add people to the listserv

-we will wait for portraits to print brochure
