Meeting minutes: March 3, 2007

A. East Coast AAJA mini conference-

Pailin, Ilin and Meiling say they can go to the AAJA Mini Conference in D.C.

B. UNITY event update:

-Latino and black media issues media panel, the saturday before our media access workshop.

-talk about whether its actually a UNITY event.

-talk about the title

- decided we can support it.

April 14th

Student project coaching--too late this year but an idea for next year.

C. Wendy is still working on it.

Wendy is working to get photos.

-decided large organizations can send two reps

-decided to let the Palestinian organization bring 2 people

-decided to limit our listservs to due paying journalists.

-adding Iranian-2 minus one from NAAAP, minus Journal and Star

-take off BAPS

Panelists

-Peggy is asking Richard Stradling

-Renee is asking Sougata

-Renee will email NPR people

-decided not to invite join John Drescher

Program

-read each group name and have reps stand up.

-Ellen will read group names.

-Peggy will do the introductions for the panelists and Ellen

-save the success story for the end.

-ideally, one word person and one visual person.

-ten groups of 6 people each.

-leaders will have talking points.

-name tag that will label what group they'll be in

-story pitch will take a more than a half hour.

-Ilin, Peggy, Pailin and Sue are going to develop talking points for leaders.

-need more people to do TV interviews-- Renee, Ilin and Sherly

-do assign seating so that people in the same group are sitting near each other to begin with.

-5 minute bathroom break before TV interview

-premade signs for the restrooms

- Meiling is going to print out stories by the N & O

-Sue is introducing the Lebanese association.

-Peggy and Renee- doing the "Back to you" session.v
